April 30, 1957 - February 20, 2021

Shane Grondahl, 63, Minot, died Saturday, February 20, 2021 in his home surrounded by his loving family after a very short battle with cancer.

Shane was born April 30, 1957 in Minot, ND to Eugene ‘Bud’ and Joann (Johnson) Grondahl. He grew up and attended school in Upham, graduating from Upham High School in 1975.  He attended the ND State College of Science in Wahpeton.

Shane was united in marriage to Leanne Laskowski on September 14, 1991 in Minot.  They made their home in Minot and last year they were able to enjoy the snowbird life in NV for a short time before everything shut down for COVID.

In Minot Shane was employed at Chateau Lanes, G & M Lumber, Bridgeman Creamery and Magic City Garage Door.  In 1997 Shane started working for IF LaFleur & Sons. He enjoyed his work as the League Coordinator and it showed in the relationships he built and valued during his employment.  With his duties with IF LaFleur & Sons, Shane also created a lot of friendships with pool and dart players all over the stave through the NDTA. Shane retired on April 28, 2017 due to health concerns.

Shane was a member of the Minot Moose Lodge and was a past president of the Apple Grove Couples Golf League. He was a volunteer for the Trinity Stroke Survivor to Survivor support program.

He played recreation softball for many years in Upham, Washburn and Minot. He enjoyed playing golf, darts, pool, Texas Hold’em Poker and traveling, especially to Las Vegas and Laughlin.   Shane will be missed for his easy smile, sense of humor, quick wit and compassion for others.

Shane is survived by his wife Leanne, Minot; siblings Kevin Grondahl, Corrine Grondahl and Wade Grondahl; sisters-in-law Kathy (Karl) Kirstein, Karin (Randy) Clark and Lorna (Nick) Roll; special nieces and nephews Eric, Jennifer, Jared, Tyler, Kyle, Chaise, Becca, Chad, Daniel, Jamie, Ryan, Jess, Teri and Alex; several uncles and aunts and many cousins;  step-mother Sharon Grondahl; step-brother Kevin Miller; step-sisters Tammy Adams, Julie Hall, Lori LaHaise and Susan MIllang; and many many lifelong friends.
